As long as evil turns its head
In my veins a fire burns red
And if that evil does take wing
A fiery chorus of ash will sing

~Overall Personality; He is the only homunculus that actually believes that they are the person who was supposed to be revived in a new form, and all of his former memories are completely intact and clear, possibly do to the different method used in his creation. He believes that the Gate of Truth is actually the Gate to heaven. He also thinks that God willed him to come back and its his duty to destroy all sinners.
Because he is the oldest of the Virtues, he likes to boss the other Virtues around. While his hotheadedness sometimes gets in the way, he really is, in fact, an excellent leader. He sometimes likes to make fun of the other Virtues just because he can, especially Kindness who he also nags constantly about being too nice to sinners. He restrains himself from bossing around Cain and Abel, although he does want to.
Dili is completely obsessed with destroying all the evil in the world, and everything else comes second. The only reason he isn't killing "sinners" 24-hours a day is because he knows that he has an eternity to do it. Sometimes he goes overboard about it and gets very angry when the other Virtues or himself fail in a mission that would help put an end to evil.

~Full History; Coal Jekyll as a kid had a great love of alchemy. He would practice for days on end. He was taught by several teachers, one of which was a young Izumi Curtis. He became an expert in the field and naturally became a state alchemist.
His life changed during the Ishbal War, where, like many other state alchemists, he was utterly horrified. He left the military and swore that he would wipe all evil from the face of the earth. He became a vigilante and used alchemy to put people who he considered sinners to justice.
Soon though he realized that a shrapnel wound from the war was slowly killing him. He was determined not to die because he was still set on destroying evil. He researched everything about medical alchemy and tried everything, but nothing worked. In his final days he realized that it was too late, and began researching the taboo, bringing back the dead.
He developed a technique that he thought would be more effective, but would make the process take a couple minutes by actually using three inter-connected circles rather than one. In his final moments he drew the complex circles with his own blood. He activated the first and second circles. And then collapsed on his way to the third, he managed to crawl over and barely managed to pot his hand on the circle and activate it, then he died.
At the gate Coal watched as his lifeless body was drawn into the open doors by the tendrils of darkness and was ripped apart. Then he cried out in pain as his mind was forced into the whirling vortex of alchemy.
He was in agony in a strange, misshapen body. He opened his eyes and saw nothing of his body but a severed head surrounded by blood. Standing over the head, though, was a man in a white mask, holding out his hand towards him. The hand held in it a pile of red stones.
But even though Cain could give him a true body, he still lacked the memories of coal. But, of course, he didn't know that. Yet something was missing inside him, drawing him to his old study. Coal expected that his memories may be gone, so he wrote a long essay on his life and his purpose along with what he had learned about Alchemy addressed to the new being, hoping that it would return his memories so that he might continue his quest to rid the world of evil. It did the trick, with every page he read more and more memories came back. It took him a day non-stop to read it, when finally he came upon the last words: you are me.
Diligence became the first and oldest virtue. He now serves as a religious priest in Ables church, often making awe-inspiring speeches when Abel himself can't attend. He has become very popular with the people of Lior.
He also goes on nightly hunts to kill sinners that plague the streets, which to him is everyone. He normally keeps it at only one person every couple nights. He has never failed a mission yet. Also, at on point in time he went and burned his whole house down, burying his skull in the rubble.
~Other Miscellaneous Stuff~
~Roleplay Sample; Finally, they had arrived. A gang of four men, men who had murdered, sinners just like the rest of them. He had lured them into his trap quite easily, the promise of some cash was enough to bring most men running. The trap had taken him awhile to set up completely. He had a large black pool of oil covering the center of the floor.
The men walked right into the shallow puddle without realizing it, so blinded they were by greed that they didn't see him. Diligence had fused oil with the palm of his hand in preparation, now he snapped his fingers and pressed them to his palm, creating a flame in its center. Diligence then quickly slammed him palm into the pool of oil, causing the whole area to ignite. Two of the men escaped from the blaze, buying them a little more time to live.
He followed one of them to the corner of the room they were in where he was curled up in fettle position. "Please...don't." The man whispered. Diligence payed no head. He repeatedly snapped his both set of fingers, each time sending out a thin stream of liquid fire. Soon the man was nothing but a corpse.
The last man was braver, he decided to fight for his life and charged at him with a large hammer. Diligence simply backflipped over the man, landing right behind him. As the man turned around in surprise, Diligence lit his whole hand on fire and grabbed the mans face with it. As the vibrations of the man screaming as his face was burned off, Diligence thought for sure that God was smiling upon his actions in killing the worthless sinners.
~Anything Else;[/font] Dili can use the elements in his body to form jets of crude oil that he can fire from anywhere on his body. He can also fuse the oil with his skin to make it highly flammable. He has four rings, two on each hand, one on each thumb and middle finger, made of flint and steel, he can snap them together to create a spark turning him into a living flame-thrower. Also, as a side note, he knows how alchemy woks and everything an expert alchemist would know, but can no longer actually use alchemy himself now that he is a homunculus.
