ok um.. this is from my 2012 site *pokes Deceit* she knows the site.
Alphonse sat on the deck, the last few moments of his watch, he had a lot on his mind lately. As he looked over the barren and broken landscape that use to be large rolling fields where he and his brother would play during the summers before the war. There was a small patch of grass that was starting to grow green among the dead grass and craters. There wasn't much left in the desolate land that the sun it's self didn't even want to warm. He yawned a bit before getting to his feet, the wooden step creaking below him as it took his weight. He turned back into the house as he thought of what he would do, doubting he could sleep well. His mind ran through the possibilties of using alchemy by himself while his mother was sleeping. It was risky but it could work.
Pausing with his hand on the door knob he turned and started to walk out to the garden. The nearest well was over a quarter mile away and his mother had to walk all that way to gather water for the garden. He looked over the plants, some not doing well since there was very little warmth for the last few weeks. Thinking a bit he decided against it, not wanting Trisha to get stressed or mad at him for going against what she had told him. With his new disision he turned and started back toward the old Victorian house, his home. It had always been his home, he was born and raised there.
As he got to the porch he skipped over the squeaky step and turned the knob. Entering into the house he silently closed the door behind him to make sure not to wake anyone, they were all exhausted from their jobs, and just surviving. Everyday they had the danger of being killed by the cannibalistic nomads that roamed the country side, or by the people who had the power and money. Always the danger of being found out from alchemist hunters, the people who think it was alchemy's fault that the country fell into war.
He made his way up the stairs quietly, making sure not to step on any of the creaking stairs that might wake others up. But than a loud thud rang through the house, coming from Edward and his room.
He jumped before skipping steps and getting to the room, and opened the door. He gave a sigh of relief when he saw Edward picking up the book and placing it on the desk. "You fell out of the chair again, didn't you brother?" he asked half teasing as he walked into the room. He went to the bunk bed and sat on the bottom bunk, his bed. Edward established when they were younger than he claimed the top bunk by pulling the 'I'm older I get the top bunk' trick. He smiled a bit before yawing, he didn't like staying up all night but if it meant that he was helping he'd do it, even if that means he only gets to see his brother a few hours a day until their father came back. Of coarse Edward hated their father for being away so much, who could blame him? Alphonse looked to the brighter side, when their father would come back, it means that he found what he was researching and that Al didn't have to stay up all night and sleep all day.
